Well, I was going to buy some new transmitters for this flying season cause I've always used the leg mount ones. Well, I decided before I done that I would see if I could rig my old, reliable transmitters that I've had for 25 years, to a Track-Pac or tail mount system. I purchased 2 of the clips and it worked out great. I just sat the transmitters down through the hole in the grommet in the clip and on the other end I wrapped it with waxed dental floss to build it up so it wouldn't fall out of the clip and when it was the girth of the grommet in the clip I used some heat shrink to keep it in place. They work awsome and it saved me a bundle. I use two different transmitters. I use an LF-3 from LL Electronics that has a range of 7 miles but actually reaches about 20. If memory serves me correctly it was $235 when I baught it. I use this one for the broad-wings. I also use an FMV made by Merlin. It is rated for 14 miles but it actually reaches 35 miles cause I've had to use it for that distance. It was $400 when I baught it.

I've never personally heard of any such transmitter. Even the packs we put on eagles that are linked to the Hubble Satelite in space to document their migration that last for 3-6 months use long lasting batteries. Definately news to me. If you find out, post the link so we can all read about them.
