wow! dude! i thought samething! morgan!! I suspect Ken is the one who shared his hood patterns to Gene or this guy Gene is the one who gave him a patterns to Ken....very interesting ...this is a Chicken and Egg situation!! a situation in which it is impossible to say which of two things existed first and which caused the other.-- whatever it is the one on ebay looks good Morgan ? by the way, Do you know how to make perfect beak opening for hood? i have a great ways but i think there must be much easier & better ways! if you do or you know someone who does, Is it possible you to make a new thread under "How to..." sections? and post it for everyone? thanks, m8 That looks like a ken hooke hood... i've only used ken hooke's hoods and stanislav's... and then one of my friends hoods he made...

I really start to believe that this guy is Just a cheap RIP OFF of British Hood Artist "Jean Turner" ... I still suspect that Ken Hooker is pretending as a "Gene Johnson" . LMAO well, i can make better hoods than both of them anyway.

I'm staying out of this conversation soley based on the fact I cannot make hoods. I tried and they were ok but not the best....I prefer to buy mine from master hood makers. I used to only support Ricardo Velarde but he stopped making falconry equipment so now I buy my hoods from Rick Wood.

Eddie? You mean... Hood Maker & Breeder - Richard N Woods ? I've heard that name couple of times this year. Yeah, i AGREE with you on that note. I should say the guy is technically good. ( He's got all the hood makers hood blocks & thier Patterns...So...lol) i shouldn't make any comments on any of his hoods. right? ;D Also, He is a well known breeder so i want to get some-some on the side?......Nah! unlike some sleezy buzzards like someone i really don't care about that. lol Well, I'll just don't make any comments from a hoodmaker side of point of views...i'll just leave it & let the buyers to decide! P.S. Eddie, Ricardo Velarde still makes hoods!! You can get them at Northwood falconry outfitters www.northwoodsfalconry.com/index.cgi?rm=showitem&itemid=HD-046&cat=%2F%20Hoods%2C%20Hood%20Blocks%20%26%20Hood%20Accessories%2FMiddle%20East%20Arab%20Hoods Or contact at : Recardo Velarde www.raptorsnest.com/VELARDE/index.html746 East 200 North Provo Utah 84006 USA (801) 375-0519 I'm staying out of this conversation soley based on the fact I cannot make hoods. Yep, Rick the falcon breeder. He makes great hoods so I have moved to him. As for Ricardo, he does NOT make falconry equipment anymore. What is left on sites like raptorsnest and from Northwoods is all that is left. Also, he does not live in Provo anymore....he moved to a new location about 3-4 years ago that I know but doesn't want that info passed on. He stopped making falconry equipment after he moved and has focused on making some of the worlds top knives ranging in price from $1,200 and up! We still talk once in awhile and see each other at the Utah Sky Trials when he is here. He still travels abroad learning new knife making techniques from the worlds top knife makers in foreign countries like Germany and many, many others. Usually when he goes he is gone for about 6 months at a time!!! When he goes he has friends take care of his falconry bird, a gorgous tiercel Barbary.

I bet If you ask nicely to Ricardo to make some of his falconry equipments... i'm pretty much sure he can make them with his eyes closed for you ! (Once you are falconer You are always falconer....by unknown writer ) i do know his new adresses. but if he doesn't want let people to know about then we shouldn't. Barbaries are nice looking birds. i like them too. Yep, Rick the falcon breeder. He makes great hoods so I have moved to him. As for Ricardo, he does NOT make falconry equipment anymore. Most of us falconers have asked him to make us some hoods and he won't. He has put all of his energy into the knife making so until that "bug" gets out of his system I doubt he'll make any more falconry equipment which really sucks. In my opinion he had the best equipment ever. Especially his hoods and bells. I used them exclusively for over 20 years so it was a horrible shock when he stopped making them. His block perches were phenominal too. He personally flew back to Scottland every year to hand pick the best and finest English Kip Leather for the hoods.

I think he sells & drop off his finished equipments to one falconry furniture store & or does not want to sell indivisually any longer...I donno!lol Try "Northwood falconry" he drops off his bells to his friends in England so try " E-bay uk" ! his friend sells his "bells" over there!
