Well, tomorrow, June 14th, is the Utah Scottish Festival and once again I was invited to do display the birds which lasts all day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Each year there is about 10,000 people that show up and it's awsome! It's just a fun filled day to see the birds, nothing educational, just fun to see them up close and personal and get pics.

"have you ever flown a red tail hawk?" omfg i was so f***ing stupid with falconry..... lol the days when i knew nothing about falconry....... how did i survive......?

Well, as you noticed Ryan I didn't die! LOL Thanks for coming, even for the short amount of time you were there. I love doing the Scottish Festival and it's great that Ian shows up each year too. Last year we were on the "main stream" instead of where we were this time. Caol even noticed the difference in traffic and asked. She said next year we will be on the main stream again and away from other booths that are "speaking booths" like the one we were next to which was teaching the foreign languages.
We only got a few stupid questions today like "are they real", and of course "can I touch it", and I got the same one again today that I always get, "can't you turn it into a vegetarian".....that comes up no matter where I go. LOL

lol even my friends who love little woodland creatures know that you can't turn a hawk into a vegetarian.. or a seed eater.
My question would be to them "are you a vegetarian? Did you enjoy that hamburger a few days or so ago?" Lol.

Yeah, out of all the people there were only 4 that knew the difference between hawk and falcon and two of them were other falconers so they don't count. The other 2 were young kids about 12-14 years old.

LOL, those damn vegetarians get me every year. I just tell them I'm a member of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals).
As for her being so calm or any other species.......it is the manning and training.

When it comes to long-wings I train differently than most people do or from what the books recommend, especially when it comes to the prairies! As you get birds you will learn certain little tips and tricks that work really well which is what I've done. I keep them secret and will probaby take most to the grave with me. LOL
