I'm not sure that this belongs in this section, but at least it has some kind of anecdotal quality to it. This morning I went outside to warm up the car, and gave the mew my causual once over to find that the bird was on neither of the perches. Hmm....I thought. That's odd. So I started over to the mew, and looked down inside to find my RT on a kill. I don't find that it's uncommon for a song bird to find it's way into the mew, I just never saw the bird get a kill like that. Turned out to be a female cardinal. Now I'm just hoping my bird doesn't 'get' anything from that too.

Actually in your case that is good that she made a kill since your having a hard time finding quarry in your area and with your horrible weather. She got to kill which made her happy. She'll be fine and may be even more calm now that she got some of that pent up anger out of her system!

She did at that too. I even managed to hood her without any fuss this morning. Once the weather starts to get a little more consistent, I'm thinking the bunnies will resort to gnawing on tree bark. It's supposed to be cold this weekend. When I saw the bird on the kill I almost thought about making in, and then thought about some of the things we talked about. Leaving her to finish it worked out better.
